Articles: I’ve dedicated my life to researching different manifestations of conflict. From hand-to-hand combat to military engagements, conflict archaeology provides an opportunity to reconstruct the past and inform future generations.

Blogposts: I’ve traveled to battlefield across Eurasia, the Indo-Pacific, and the Americas. Researching and excavating these important sites of cultural heritage provides a glimpse into pivotal moments of history that shaped mankind.

Guides: I’ve actively trained, instructed, and competed in combat sports for over a decade. Having read extensively about modern attempts to reconstruct pankration, I started training in the ancient combat sport and its modern derivations while living in Greece.

Battlefield Archaeology

Identifying battlefields can be a complicated endeavour, as unclear descriptions, shifting landscape features, and antiquited naming can obscure exact locations. Conflicting interpretations can result in dozens of places being proposed. Battlefield archaeology, which combines archaeological, geological, and literary methods of gathering and assessing evidence, assists researchers in identifying and reconstructing these battlefields. Below you can find a map of some of the transient battlefields, referred to here as major military engagements without, or in addition, to sieges I’ve reconnoitred, excavated, or visited.
